About Me
I have lived in Mecklenburg County for almost 30 years and in that time, I've gained hands-on experience with many of the issues facing our community. I earned a B.A. in Political Science and a Master’s in Accounting from UNC–Chapel Hill, as well as an MBA in Finance from North Carolina Central University. For the past 25 years, I have built my own property management company, which has allowed me to meet a diverse range of people across my district and understand the needs of our residents. Through my work, I have gotten to see firsthand how government programs, such as public housing assistance, function in practice. I also currently serve on the county-appointed Board of Equalization and Review, where I help ensure every county resident is treated fairly in the property valuation process.
Beyond my work, I have had the opportunity to serve as an appointed Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation Board Member, chair of the Healthcare Division of the Investment Council for United Way of Central Carolinas, 3rd Vice Chair of the Mecklenburg County Democratic Party, a Musical Minds Board Member, and a competitive youth soccer and basketball coach. I am also a single father (and recent empty-nester) who raised my son through CMS public schools and supported his teams in preparing for Science Olympiad, Speech and Debate, and NCCTM math competitions across Charlotte and the state of North Carolina.
I am running for office because District 3 deserves leadership that shows up, listens, and fights for real progress—not a representative who’s held local office for over thirty years with little to show for it. District 3 is home to some of the highest-crime corridors in the county, including the Sugar Creek/I-85 area. These are issues I quite literally see in my own driveway, and I am motivated to make a change. I’m committed to tackling crime at its roots. That also includes in and around our schools, because every child deserves a safe place to learn. I’ve watched my own son navigate the public school system, and I know how much safety matters.
I’m focused on improving both mental and physical healthcare access, strengthening public safety, and pushing for a more collaborative, accountable political culture. Mecklenburg County's districts are the size of whole cities, and the people who live here deserve representatives who act like it. I’m running to bring urgency, integrity, and action back to this office, and to build a safer, healthier, stronger, and better future for District 3.
