Issues & Platform

Elected officials often promise transparency, but I want to show you what that actually means in practice. I’m not running to climb a political ladder. I’m running to serve this community, where I live and work every day. My administration will be fully open about the challenges facing our county, and the solutions being pursued to address them. Below is a brief overview of our key platform points, and you can click on any section to learn more.

MY FOCUS

Crime

District 3 should be a safe place to live, work, and raise a family, and anyone who threatens that safety must be held accountable. As County Commissioner, I will:

  • Advocate for a strong crime bill and push the state legislature to act.

  • Support zero-tolerance policies for physical violence in schools.

  • Work to reopen and properly resource juvenile justice facilities.

Physical & Mental Health

When people struggle with untreated mental illness, substance abuse, housing instability, or lack of healthcare, the risk of crises increases for them and the community. As County Commissioner, I will:

  • Expand access to mental-health services through partnerships with private and nonprofit providers.

  • Increase the availability of school-based counseling and behavioral support.

  • Strengthen crisis response by ensuring clinicians, not just police, are part of the front-line team.

  • Increase access to free preventive care for  chronic diseases.

Strengthening Small Businesses
Supporting small businesses means giving entrepreneurs the tools they need to start, grow, and stay rooted in our community. As County Commissioner, I will:
  • Ensure the long term viability of small businesses by Building out CPCC's Small Business Center to ensure new business owners have full access to their services.
  • Increase use of "flex" options to include the use of micro-retail.
Building Local Partnerships
Mecklenburg County districts are each the size of a top-ten city in North Carolina, yet our government still operates like a small town. As County Commissioner, I will:
  • Foster relationships between school board, city councils, and county officials.
  • Regularly engage with HOAs, local boards and businesses.
Transportation Infrastructure
The sales tax referendum has passed, and now it is the responsibility of officials to make it work. As County Commissioner, I will:
  • Consider a tiered pricing system across transit lines to reduce burdens on low-income riders and make public transit more accessible.
  • Incentivize mixed-income housing development along light-rail corridors.
  • Support the micro-transit system, ensuring it is accessible and effective for everyone.
